Inktober 2018 – Day 16

Art, Illustration, Ink, Markers, sketching

Sketching angular today. I love being in big cities. I can get lost. I can be whoever I want to be. The sites, sounds and the people. This was in D.C. The energy makes me want to go, go, go.

Inktober 2018 – Day 10

Flowing is the word for the day. For those not gushy-minded, you can just stop reading right now.

In the gazebo scene in of The Sound of Music when Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer are declaring their love for each other, they get so close to kiss, their two bodies form a heart. I look for that heart in movies or shows whenever the two characters kiss. It’s so lovely and melts my heart.

I think of their two energies flowing to form the one heart. Then it flows out to everyone else. In reality that’s all we really want. Love.

Star is the prompt today. I had just gotten these sunglasses and they made me feel shiny.

Aren’t we supposed to be the star in our life? Being small and dulling yourself down doesn’t serve anyone. You are meant to shine!

Drooling is the word today.

Paul’s youngest daughter was visiting us and I gave her the whirlwind tour of St. Augustine. We went to Ripley’s Believe it or Not, why not? Room after room filled with oddities. Just as we got to the end we turned the corner and we both jumped. A BEAR! We both clinged to each other and tried to get by it. I know my heart was pounding. It was so real-ly stuffed.

While that bear may not have been drooling…we were…from the scare.

Inktober 2018 – Day 5

Art, Illustration, Ink, Markers, sketching

Today’s word is Chicken. I am one.

As a child I was fearless. Mountain climbing led to almost falling off a cliff. I then knew fear.  That was nothing because there was Coney Island.

The Cyclone roller coaster. I can close my eyes and see and feel this whole experience. Open box seats, with a bar at arms length, barely a belt. This roller coaster clicks up ever so slowly. I wave at my Mom and friend. Hey! We get to the top and this sucker goes straight down. I mean, you are free falling face first. Nothing to hold on to but a rickety bar. My Dad and brother are laughing their heads off. Well, good for them. I lost my mind. It was the sixties.

This is the Sandia Peak Tramway at 10,679′. Very High.

Heights don’t work for me now. So be it. I own being a chicken. Proud and loud.

I’ve only been looking at the prompts for Inktober the day of so I can be quick about what to create. Last night I glanced at the list and it is Chicken today.

A lot of problem solving and AHA’s come to me while doing the dishes and I knew I wanted to paint one of my rooster photos.. This is what happens in our house; I call out, “Honey, is a rooster a chicken or is a rooster just a rooster?” Husband answers, “Is a man a human, or is a man just a man?” Problem solved.

Just trying to be true to the challenge, my first rooster chicken. I can see where I can improve. This is progress.

Once again Strathmore Pastel 400 series, salmon color, 9 x 12. Funny how white turns out blue against this paper. #HTP31in31  img_8106
