I am a Design Whisperer, Artist and Illustrator. If I wore a button, it would say, “Television made me what I am today”. I spent a 30-year career in broadcasting beginning with the PBS affiliate at Eastern New Mexico University. In Orlando, Florida, I was the first woman broadcast designer at the FOX affiliate and then moved across town as the Art Director at the CBS affiliate. I’ve won over 51 Addy awards from around the state of Florida with two coveted Emmy Awards for a promotion and one for graphic design. Also included is a Telly Award for production, and a MAX (Marketing Awards for Excellence) award for Women in Radio and Television two years in a row.
Recently, I’ve been having a blast illustrating Fun Maps of cities in Ohio, West Virginia and most recently in Virginia. The best part is delivering the posters when I’m done. Seeing the grins on my customers’ faces is all I need to know that I hit the mark!
As a creative, I take my camera everywhere I go as my eyes drool and I have to capture the inspiration. Tight shots of mushrooms, flowers and bugs of all kinds challenge me. I’m very inspired by industrial scenes.
My photos are my muse and I am perfecting my talents in painting them with pastel, acrylic, and encaustic wax mediums. Painting in Plein Air is wonderfully challenging. I created an Altered Art Journal group and it fires up my creativity.
I’m married to my best friend Paul and partner in joy who makes me laugh out loud all the time. I have two grown children, Ross and Gage who survived the television years with me and still talk to me once a week.
