En Plein Air

Art, En Plein Air, Pastel

Once again, my friend Nancy and I painted out at the Claytor Nature Center. It was a hot day and anyone who paints outdoors can attest that it is hard work. I was bone tired that night. Slept great!

This tree is one of the biggest White Ash trees in Virginia. I think of giant trees like that as being a Witness to history. Long before we were here. To stand in the middle of the Muir Woods and realize that those trees were there before Jesus leaves me in awe. We are but specks.

This tree and this row of trees, also white ash coming up to the farmhouse have health problems much like the American Chestnut did and will disappear. The trees are being carefully treated. I love them so much.
